Hi, my name is Lani, and welcome to No Girl is an Island

“Humour is certainly a hallmark of Lani's writing for me. But I also admire her honesty and clarity and her deceptively free-wheeling style, which carries a lot of weight. I read her and smile, but continue reflecting on what she's written long afterwards.” ~ Jeffrey Streeter, English Republic of Letters

Who are you?

  • a fellow outsider, someone who believes that fitting in is overrated

  • you’ve had a singular experience/s that does the job of pushing you to the peripheries of “normalized society”

  • someone who is interested in what we share, what brings us together

Who am I?

What to expect

My plans for this space include:

  • a monthly newsletter Âť aka ray of sunshine in a world that wants more compassion, kindness, and cat videos. 🐈

  • outsider-entertaining essays (sometimes I’m funny, too!)

  • serializing my second memoir, Misfortune Cookie (a love letter to my family)

Since 2019, I’ve been publishing a newsletter (TinyLetter, MailerLite, and now here) under 🌴 No Girl is an Island.

You won't find politics, preaching, or tips on how to synergize your work space. 😘Instead, you'll receive a little update, doses of art, music, articles, recipes, or whatever I found amusing, useful, or worth sharing.

"Thanks for the ray of sunshine Lani!" ~ M.F., Canada

"Thanks for all the free therapy in 2020 and I'll be expecting more of the same from you in the future." ~ B.T., USA

"How I enjoy reading your emails." ~ J.H., Canada

"Thank you always for these beautiful letters." F.V. ~ Germany

"I wanted to thank you for all the great emails and to send you a screenshot of my "social" inbox. It's all you, babe!" ~ A.S., USA

Hope to see you around, and don’t worry, all posts are free, like my love. 💋 However, if you WANT to, by all means, become a paid subscriber! Woohoo!
