I love bluegrass! I was honestly hesitant to it, but a friend who I consider to have fantastic taste in music kept sending me recommendations and now I'm hooked. And so glad you got some rest!
Rest is such a powerful act/state of being especially when the world around us can be telling us that we need to be ‘doing something’ whether that something is writing or whatever.
"And now I look back at that time of nothingness with real affection and longing. I was safe. I was cared for. I went on walks and sat on the sofa because it was big and comfortable. My most urgent concern was what I was going to eat. In the beginning, I mentally resisted ‘doing nothing’, but by the end, I could have gone another week." It sounds like you needed that rest, Lani! I'm so glad for you.
It's amazing what a little rest will do for the brain and bod. And music. Glad you had a chance to refresh and renew! I've met a few great Old Time/Bluegrass musicians throughout the years, and there seems to be this big difference/debate between what is Old Time and what is Bluegrass. I never did figure out what was what. But I love it, whatever they call it. If you haven't already, check out Foghorn Stringband out of Portland. (https://youtu.be/lleaVsy7YN8?si=PE1ut90ystLK38bN) I love them. And if you've never gone, maybe next time you're in the U.S. during the summer, try and hit up FiddleTunes in Port Townsend, WA. Soooooooo lovely. It's around July 4 weekend. The weather is great, there are deer walking around in the morning, it's by the beach, you wake up to hear fiddlers and banjo pickers, etc. practicing. It's a little week of heaven. xo
Thanks for the recommendations, Anne-Julia! I’ve gone to a few bluegrass/folk musical festivals in Colorado and they were, just as you say, a slice of heaven. SO MUCH TALENT! And a great way to discover new bands. It’s a beautiful community. I’ll check out Foghorn Stringband. Thanks! xo
Rest is good to gather energy for new adventures!
Love it. xxoo
You even write like you're rested. I love this. Also, have you heard Rising Appalachia?
Really? That’s remarkable. Hahahaha. 😂Thanks. And no, I have not! I will look them up ~ Cheers me dears! xo

Another bluegrass fan! That’s awesome. Thanks, Sarah. xo
Listening to bluegrass and worrying about what to eat, while surrounded by rest and love, sounds like bliss. 🙏🏼
Thanks, Simone. It was a gentle reminder of how important rest is. xo
Good for you, Lani! I am so glad you prioritized yourself! ❤️
Thank you, that's a good way to put it!

Glad you’re feeling refreshed!
Well, not anymore. Hahahaha, but the lingering effects are still hanging on!
So often if one gets the opportunity it’s essential to do nothing and recharge. Glad you got the chance!
Thanks, A. xo

Apparently! Sometimes you don’t even know how much you need it, too!
Very true!
Ahh, doing nothing... Big sigh... feels so good just to read about it.
Like Claudia said... so good to read from you again!
And thank you for the gorgeous musical tracks 💗🙏 🎶
Thanks, Veronika! I’m glad you had a listen. And it’s nice to hear the words, welcome back. Truly. Did not expect it, xo
